Global Office supports most of the world's languages, including many which are not supported by Microsoft Office. Global Office is based on the Unicode 2.0 character set standard. The primary value of Global Office is in enabling users to create or edit documents in their own language, or to enter or display text in other languages they may be familiar with, and freely mix any language within the same document. The User Interface language for this release of Global Office is English. _____________________________________________________________________ INSTALL & UNINSTALL Unitype Global Office is a 32-bit application and requires Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. Machine requirements are: - 12MB RAM minimum. 16MB or more RAM is recommended, especially if support for CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) is installed. - 4MB to 130MB available hard disk space. The exact amount depends on the number and type of languages installed. To install Unitype Global Office, launch setup.exe and follow the configuration options in the installation program. To remove Global Writer from your system, go to the Windows Control Panel, "Add / Remove Programs" and choose Unitype Global Office. ______________________________________________________________________ UNICODE Global Writer's primary character set is the Unicode 2.0 character encoding standard. Unicode is a fixed-width 16-bit character set that covers most of the world's commonly used writing systems. For specific information on Unicode / ISO-10646, please refer to http://www.unicode.org ______________________________________________________________________ Global Office is not compatible with version 1.x products from Gamma Productions due to changes in the language support system, with the exception that both company's products are compatible at the Unicode plain text level. For Gamma uninstallers, please refer to http://www.gammapro.com ______________________________________________________________________ - ISSUES AND LIMITATIONS HP LaserJet printer drivers and CJK languages There is a known incompatibility between Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer drivers and CJK on Microsoft Windows 95. The conflict causes Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) language characters to print incorrectly or not at all. This problem can be solved by choosing the Print TrueType as graphics option under File/Print/Properties/Fonts before printing. If the above option is not available with your current printer driver, please install the "HP LaserJet" driver (found on the Microsoft Windows 95 distribution CD) and select it before printing. For further support see "HP LaserJet" within the Global Office on-line help.
